Let’s Start Here

With A look At the mind behind the matter…

Thanks for being here! I’m Charlie, a multidisciplinary artist making sense of the world through material exploration and comic-inspired imagery. I’m actively working to blend my functional and sculptural practices, bringing life and narrative to everyday objects. Outside of traditional art practices, I’m a meticulous designer versed in web, print, and packaging, with a B.A. in Graphic Design from San Diego State University.

I came to art through early exposure to poetry and music—listening to my grandma habitually recite Shel Silverstein and jamming out with my three siblings on Guitar Hero. Small moments like these heavily influenced me to think in terms of rhythm, repetition, and structure, but most importantly, emotion. I carried those principles into an early obsession with illustration, learning about space and composition through amateur renditions of my dad’s classic cars.

With time, my practice broadened to include new materials, each offering its own lessons in aesthetic, intention, and responsiveness. Moving between mediums revealed how form can shape function, and how objects can hold history and create atmosphere. Throughout this evolution, pop, comic, and street art have remained a constant lens through which I explore identity. Together, these elements define a practice rooted in control and conscious making.

Working across multiple disciplines allows me to view the creative process through various lenses, letting one medium inform how I approach the next. As my practice continues to evolve, I hope to carry the knowledge and techniques I gain from all this youthful experimentation into a flowering career guided by space, atmosphere, and history. At its core, my work is driven by a belief that art is an essential form of human connection—an essential way of sharing, understanding, and cultivating compassion.

Outside the studio, those same values carry through my daily life. If I’m not painting, sewing, or throwing, I’m likely cooking a new recipe for my family, hiking a wooded trail, or spending time with an unheard album. I try to live with the same presence and authenticity that not only guides my current practice, but also laid the foundation for all my previous work.
